TAMARACK BUILDING

Client: Integrated Mountain Group Properties
Location: Glenwood Springs, Colorado
General Contractor: DM Neuman
Project Status: Completed 2017

Located in Downtown Glenwood Springs, the Tamarack Building was bought by a developer who envisioned a significant architectural remodel. Working alongside David Johnston Architects, Connect One Design spun a concept that was grounded in the building’s well known curved façade. A specimen shade tree centers the outdoor public space. Offset radiating circular bands, made from materials that reflect and highlight the new building façade, unify and envelop the street sidewalk, creating a much larger perceived gathering space. Circular and curvilinear benches were added to the design as pedestrian guides, as well as heightening the circular concept on the vertical plane. The plants chosen provide alternating height, texture and color in correlation with the hardscape pattern and help express the most prominent architectural features.
